This year has started with some travel. One of the most unusual and delightful things I’ve done is to take a ferry from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Montevideo, Uruguay. And one of the surprises was an onboard duty free shop with a Caran d’Ache section!
Airport Duty Free shops today seem to mainly offer alcohol and fragrances, so it was very nice to see stationery and art supplies represented. I certainly wasn’t expecting this shop on the ferry.
Wait but did you get anything? And was there a significant difference in price? We need more info! Hahahaha please and thank you
Thank you for the comment!
You can see from the photos that everything was locked up. While I was glad to see the displays, this format didn’t fully engage me. I guess I like to handle the merchandise!
Leman fountain pens aren’t really my cup of tea, and I would have considered some colour pencils, but they had so many lines and varieties – Swisscolor, Supracolour, etc. that I couldn’t decide. I didn’t wind up buying anything.
As to prices – as an example, a Colormat-X 849 was $US41. That’s about $3 better than at retail in Canada, and another $5 in tax saved.
