Caran d’Ache has released the second edition of their pencilmaking masterwork. This edition features pencils made from Guyana Palm, Blue Zebrano, American Cedar, and Lati Grey. (That last pencil is a repeat from the first series. Why the double Lati?)
Both editions shown together:
The walnut, blue zebrano, and cedar pencils are the ones that catch my eye.
Get them while you can. Caran d’Ache says the series is tremendously successful.

Wow! They look beautiful, especially in combination. – On that occasion: Yesterday a local retailer gave me a sample, namely a Caran d’Ache beech pencil (possibly treated with a dark stain) with a red lacquer cap and a white cross on top. I wouldn’t be surprise if there’s more!
Thank you for the comment. I look forward to seeing the beech pencil!
Wow, these are beautiful. You know I’m going to ask this, how do I get my hands on this second set?
By the way, thank you so much for the search suggestion, totally found a set and placed a order. Can’t wait for them to come in!!
Hi John,
Two international stores that sell this set are Skripta-Paris in France and Cult Pens in the UK. (I bought my pencils via Skripta-Paris.)
Hello,
How do you know it is No.2?
Is there a official website? Somehow i can’t find it.
T Square, among other identifiers, the packaging indicates that this is the second series.
I absolutely love that blue zebrano wood. I mean, they’re all gorgeous, but wow!
I need to pull together some spending money and send away for this.
Yesterday a German distributor of Caran d'Ache products told me that the second set is already sold out.
We have limited stocks of Ed. 2 pencils on our retail stores if any need them. We got heaps of order and almost already sold out during holidays. One of the best holiday selling items.
where can you buy those? i am stunned by the quality car an D’ache has. I’ve got several items and I’m very pleased with it. and this is a must have!
How to purchase please. Thank you!

We’ve got just few in stocks but these are Ed. 3 , we are out of stock on Ed. 2. For further enquiries email sales@kadmium.com.au
I got the ed. 3. The leads seem softer with the earlier editions. Plus, The second edition pencils had a surface problem I think (not sleek enough), after the first edition that was a disappointment. But the third edition is closer to the first one in this respect but how about the leads? Anyone?
Indeed – the leads in the third set is considerably harder. I haven't noticed any surface problems in the second set, though.
I know they’re sold out but this is worth a shot. Anybody out there know where I can get additions 1 through 5. New or used. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Karen

Karen, if you are open to used pencils, I’m sure there are a few of us with buyer’s regret. When I wrote the above in 2013, it was thought that these pencils were made of of exotic woods, rather than reconstituted pulp.
